Haymitch is no longer going to let Katniss out of his control. He will make sure she always wears the earpiece. While Katniss is watching a propo, what they call propaganda, she sees Peeta who tells her to stop her job as the Mockingjay. He is very beaten up and she is worried about him, but she pretends she didn't see it. The propos have actually worked as the rebels are making a rally and have took two districts. They are going to shoot an interview in 12 for more propos.

Katniss goes into battle in District 8. She comes in and sees the dead and wounded bodies from the bombing being dragged into a makeshift hospital which she goes into. After talking to everyone she walks out and a little ways away when the Capitol fighters come in and start bombing again. She is instructed to go into a buker away from the action but she goes into battle and shoots down 3 planes. Then she realizes that the capitol bombed the hospital so she makes a big speech. Then, they make lots of propaganda videos to energize the rebels, and then they broadcast them to everyone except the capitol.

After what everyone decides was a bad performance by Katniss in the video shoot, she decides she has to go into battle. Beetee comes and gets Katniss prepared to go into battle in District 8. Then she goes down into the hangar and gets into a smaller hovercraft and starts to fly. In the hover craft Katniss gets a breifing of the plans to overrun the Capitol and start a republic; they will take over one district at a time and then the Capitol, who is supplied by the districts will be weak without supplies. Then the other districts will attack and hopefully win.

The prep team gets all fixed up and Katniss starts to get "prepped" the next day. Katniss is very surprised at how much different they look in the very basic District 13 uniforms. Then, after she is ready she gets in her mockingjay coustume and shoots rebel propaganda until dinner. It makes Katniss very bad when after all of this work, Haymitch insults her and she realizes that he is going to be part of her life again.

Katniss is having trouble sleeping and after Prim asks her what is wrong, we no why; she is going to be the mockingjay in the morning. When Katniss goes into Command, she asks for some things before she becomes the mockingjay. She wants to keep Buttercup, she wants to be allowed to hunt with Gale, she wants to kill President Snow, and she wants Peeta to be safe after the war, which are all agreed to. Then they see that Cinna before he died, made a whole sketchbook of mockingjay outfits for Katniss but Fulvia doesn't think Katniss is pretty enough so they go down 39 floors to room 3908 where a soldier stops them. Then, Gale distracts the soldier and runs into the room where she see a very beaten up version of her prep team shackled to the wall. Katniss immediatly realeases the prep team and, she brings them to her mom.

On the way to dinner Katniss and Gale are called to the Command, a place where meetings are held. They go in and Katniss sees what is on the TV, Peeta is having an interview; he is alive. Katniss goes back to district 12 to see her totally demolished house in the seam, but to do this, she agrees to do anything District 13 wants her to. She see tons of dead bodies and knows she caused their death by shooting an arrow through the force field. She thinks about what she has to do, she has to lead a rebellion, which, for her, is not the job of choice. Then she goes through her old Victors Village house which has been left untouched. Inside she collects things including Prim's cat that somehow survived. Then she sees one of President Snow's roses on her dresser and she knows he is coming for revenge.

Someone has died right after the fight breaks out and Katniss worries that chaos will break out even more and she runs to Peeta who is somewhere else. At the tree though, she does find Beetee with a knife in his hand, the knife is also connected to the lightning tree by wire. Then Katniss realizes what she has to do she connects the knife to an arrow and sends it through a weak point in the force field around the arena. Then, when the lightning hits, the whole arena basically explodes. Then Katniss gets pulled out of the arena and revived for mysterious reasons. Once she is better she goes down the hallway to a room where she sees the head gamemaker with Haymitch and Finnick. They explain to her that she is a head of a rebellion and that they are taking her to District 13. Then Gale comes and says that he saved Katniss's Mom and Sister but District 12 "doesn't exist anymore" because the Capitol blew it up.

After surviving for a while doing fun things like swimming, Katniss and Peeta decided that they were going to break the alliance right after the two careers were killed. They then figured out that Beetee was making a wire trap that he will use to kill the careers. The trap is a wire that connects to a tree that gets struck by lightning that will lead down to the watery beach and electrocute anyone on it. Then, as Katniss is bringing the wire down from the tree towards the beach, the wire gets slacked since its just been cut, and, with no one around, Johanna jumps on Katniss and a fight breaks out everywhere.

Katniss and Peeta figure out the whole clockwork of the arena. They figured out that certain things happen at different times. Then the whole arena spins and everything gets mixed up. After this, Katniss realizes that all of the other tributes are protecting Peeta for some reason. Then Katniss goes into the woods with Finnick where jabberjays start making noises that sound like their loved ones in pain. After that is over, they know where the clock is again which is very helpful.

It is a giant fight, but, in the end, Katniss's group wins. Then, after the fight, they see Johanna, Wiress, and Beetee come down the mountain stained with blood.

Katniss and her allies recieve a gift that is unknown to them at first, but then Katniss figures it out. The gift is a spile, the tool used to get sap out of maples. However, when they stick the spile into the tree, water comes out. Then, after a good meal with water, they go to sleep. In the middle of the night, right after a cannon of death sounds, a poisonous gas comes and starts to blister Katniss when everyone starts running. They are running when the poison gets to their central nerves and they start having spasams. Then, after Mags has died and Katniss, Peeta, and Finnick are about to, the fog stops and slowly gets sucked up into the sky until it is gone.

After the chariot ride they meet a few tributes who aren't exactly respecting privacy. Then, Katniss and Peeta go to meet there Avoxses, but it is then that Katniss sees one of them is Darius, a man who used to be a peacekeeper in district 12. Then Katniss eats dinner, watches recaps, and goes to bed for the night. Katniss and Peeta train the next day and thier strategy is to make friends with other victors. She goes to training and doesn't really enjoy it, but she feels better after the archery station. After the shooting station when everyone saw Katniss shoot they all want to be her ally.

Katniss rides on the train and watches Haymitch’s Hunger Games where he was the victor. Then, after watching him defy the capitol by getting out of the arena, she feels better about her defiance with the berries. Then she gets to the capitol and, again, prepares for her opening ceremony. This time in the opening ceremony she is being a charcoal slowly burning. This is made possible by a suit that changes color in different places to make it look like it is burning. Also like before, she stuns the crowd and has their full attention throughout the ride.

The theme for this year is that the tributes are going to be reaped from the previous winners. Katniss then realizes she is the only girl winner in District 12 and is guarenteed to go back to the arena.

At the start of the second book in the Hunger Games Series we meet Katniss, the main character, again. We learn that she is about to go on a long tour to meet all the districts. He tells her that he will kill her unless she really acts up the lover thing with Peeta because some districts might start to rebel if they think that her move was a rebellion.

She is just pulling into District 12 again when the book ends.

Katniss and Peeta realized that the things they were being chased by were dogs with the souls of the dead tributes. They run to the top of the cornucopia, but Peeta gets a bad bite on his leg first. Then, Cato puts Peeta in a headlock. Katniss shoots Peeta over the side and the mutts slowly eat him to death. Then Katniss and Peeta get told there can be only one winner. Katniss then thinks of a great idea, she will put poisonous in their hands and they will both eat them at the same time, so, therefore, the gamemakers will have to let them win. This works.

After all that Katniss fell asleep for two days. When she woke up it was a downpour and she sat inside a cave for two more days. During the rain Thresh died. The first day after the rain, while Katniss and Peeta were gathering food, Foxface ate some poisonous berries and died. The next day Katniss goes to the lake and is prepared to fight it out with Cato. When he finally comes he runs right past them and they realize they are being chased.

Katniss has to feed Peeta a sleeping potion to make him knock out so she can go to the "feast." After he is out she gets ready to leave. She camoflauges the cave, fills her water, and packs her bag. Then she leaves. Katniss gets to the cornucopia an hour early and has to wait. Right when the sun comes up she sees foxface, another tribute, come out and quickly grab her bag and run. Then Katniss makes her move. She runs up, grabs the bag, but on the way back she gets a knife to her forehead and gets tackled. When she is about to die, Thresh, from Rues district, saves Katniss because she helped Rue. Then Katniss gets away and brings her medicine to Peeta; bleeding the whole way there.

When Katniss got up after she exploded the careers food she decided it was time for her to go back and meet Rue at their checkpoint. When she got back to the checkpoint Rue wasn’t there, so she waited all morning, but Rue still didn’t come. Katniss then decided to go looking for Rue. When Katniss got to the third fire Rue was supposed to light it wasn’t burned or light, so Katniss decided to look in between the second and third fires for Rue. She found Rue in a net, but just when she saw her, a boy from district 1 ran up and speared Rue, so Katniss immediately shot him. Right when the fire happened Katniss started to run, she was doing well except for the fact that after a while fireballs started to be launched at her. She lived but then she heard the same pack of six, the careers, people who basically train for the hunger games their whole life, and they were looking for a fight. Katniss wasn’t though so she climbed up a tree as far as she could and the careers, being muscular and well fed, could not climb on the branches that Katniss was on. When Katniss realized there was a nest of Tracker Jackers, deadly hornets that “track” you, above her, she climbed up, and then she cut it down on the careers. Although three Tracker Jackers stung her, she had enough sense to get the bow from one of the girls who died from them. Two days later, when she recovered from her madness, she went hunting, caught food, and made an alliance with Rue, another tribute. Then, she went on attack an managed to blow up the stockpile of supplies and food the careers got from the cornucopia.

The games are just going to start so Katniss gets a strategy from her mentor, get clothes and a hairdo from Cinna, and then she goes up and gets her first look at the arena. The arena, like she hoped for, is a dense pine forest, which, at the time, looked like it had lots of water. Her strategy was to go straight for the woods and not go for any of the weapons and resources in the cornucopia. However when she saw some of the resources she was tempted to go for them. She went and got a backpack and got a knife thrown at her, which she got to keep. Then she went off in the woods. The first night there was a pack of six nearly right under her, but they didn’t see her and she survived. The second night no one came. On the third day she could barely walk when she finally found water, and the third night, when she thought everything was going great there was a forest fire, and she had to leave quickly.

Although today I only read 15 pages, they were a very eventful 15 pages. First, Katniss went back to her designers and got a costume for the interviews. Katniss's costume was a dress with jewels that didn't actually light her on fire, but it made her look like she was on fire when she spun around. Then she went to have lessons about how to act in the interview. She was having trouble deciding on how to act during the interview after she finished arguing with Haymitch, her instructor, but her stylist said just to be herself and everything would be OK. She did just that and her interview went great, but now its time for the games to begin.

During the first three days of training Peeta and Katniss learned many valuable skills like, making camouflage, knife throwing, starting fires, making shelters and so on. Then they have private sessions to show what they are best at, Peeta did some weight lifting and Katniss, some archery. Then it was time for them to get their score, Peeta got and 8 out of 12 and Katniss, who thought she was going to get a 3, got an 11.

After Katniss got chosen as a tribute, she went into a building, said goodbye to all of her friends and family, and then she got on a train to the capitol. On the long train ride she had dinner and breakfast with her manager Haymitch, who was not someone she was looking forward to relying on for her sponsorship, due to all his drinking. Then her and Peeta, the other tribute made a deal where he would stay sober, so he could get them sponsors. After she got to the city, she met her designer, who thought it would be best if he were to catch Katniss on fire. She thought this was a very scary idea but when it actually happened it made District 12 , the district that Peeta and Katniss are representing, the most popular.

Today I started the book Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. In the beginning of the book we meet the main character, Katniss, a very responsible girl who has had to run her family for 5 years since her father died. Everyday she goes illegally out in the woods and catches meals for her family. She also sells some of her game to the black market for money. Then, we learn about the Hunger Games. A battle fought by 24 normal kids (12-18), but this isn’t just a normal battle this is to the death. When Katniss’s 12 year old sister get picked Katniss, who is 16, volunteers and takes her sisters place.
